Unfortunately, "Unholier Than Thou" fails to be more than another thrash "comeback" album that, like other titles such as Violent Revolution and All Hell Breaks Loose, doesn't offer anything with lasting value.
It's not as if the album is bad overall, it's just mediocre and uninteresting. Even if Infernal Majesty had never released another album after their eponymous debut, they would have remained in the annals of metal right beside their compatriots Voivod, Razor, Annihilator, Obliveon, Sacrifice and Exciter. We were also transitioning from Toronto to Vancouver, which had a larger impact setting us back that didn't allow us to focus on things happening around us that could have used more attention.

Though there majesgy some obvious high points in the three aforementioned songs above, the overall experience is dismal. Dark, twisted with technical hints the guitars march on creating brooding schizoid sceneries recalling those from the later-period Death works, speeding up on occasion, but seldom breaking the consistent, labyrinthine mid-tempo stride.

It suited everything about the concept but in a new light from the original. It transforms into a different beast the louder you go. We love to hear from you. While I wish to avoid comparing an album like this to an untouchable classic, I can't help but insist this album has nothing of high interest on its own merits, so people who are new to Infernal Majesty are getting the same result as those die-hard fans who were expecting more.
Looking back now it was the right decision.
